Next... I am in Denton County Jail this week.
. I started it today already tired but still excited. Denton County Jail has always been full of surprises and I can tell this week will not disappoint in that area. The attendance is low and that made me pretty sad at first but the more time I spent with the girls today, the more I realized that this might have been God’s doing. These girls seem to be so desperate for change that they blew me away. Since I am so tired, I am just going to give a quick summary on how you can pray. Tomorrow night I will give you more info as well.
The first class is at 8am. I had 17 girls attend. That is actually good since it starts so early. It’s usually hard to get that many girls up early. They dragged in but they came! This class expressed several things we could pray about. One girl speaks only Spanish but sat through the class anyway trying to take in what she could. Pray that the language barrier will be broken. Another girl expressed learning disorders. I am sure there is more to pray for in this class but we were limited on time today and I didn’t get to find out as much as I wanted.
The next class is at 11am – This is a area where the girls are isolated, usually for behavior problems. Only 5 came. I was so disappointed. As I got through about half of my testimony, I could tell these girls were really hungry for change. When I let them watch the video, they were so excited and hopeful. When I told them the requirements, they did not bat an eye. They were willing to do whatever it takes for change. The more they heard, the more excited they got. It was so cool! Please pray that they stay this excited and that no matter what happens this week, they will stay as focused as they were today.
The last class starts at 2:15. This class only had 6 girls- that is so unusual! Once again, I learned quickly these girls were very serious about the class. I believe God has separated these girls out for a reason. I can’t wait to see! They explained that when the others heard about how much homework was involved, they didn’t want to come. That means the girls that did come made the choice to come even though they knew it would be hard. So, We had a precious time together. They expressed that a lot of new girls have come and changed the dynamics of the pod. Not many are interested in spiritual things and there seems to be a lot of personality conflicts. Please pray for these few girls that are choosing to endure.
So, that’s a summary anyway. I will write more tomorrow when I have rested up some. Please pray for me as well. I need to sleep well tonight!!!
Now… Go serve your KING!
