A Weekend to Remember…

After 8 years of ministry, it really happened! It’s so funny how God works.  I had surrendered this dream years ago to do what God had called me to do in the counties. In the beginning, I wanted in the prisons doing “Weekend Warrior” events but the only door that opened was one class in Collin County.  So, I gave it my best and watched God grow that to a few other counties. As it grew, and I tried many time to get into the prisons to teach this class, it just didn’t happen.  Then all of the sudden, the flood gates opened and we are looking at 6 more weekend events this year alone! After I surrendered my will to God’s, He ended up giving me what I had desired all along.

I see now why. I was in NO WAY ready for this 8 years ago. I was not ready for this a year ago! I am praying I am ready for it now!!! J  This past weekend was our first taste at the things to come.  WOW… there are just not enough words. The team God sent was AMAZING in every way.  We have 10 regular volunteers now!! This weekend there were four of us that went.  I have asked each of them to write out their experience to share with you so I will post them as they come.

Janet shared her testimony which was amazing.  The very first prison we went to was one of the three units she served time in! I was so proud of her and she was a great encouragement to the girls.  She also got to share at the Woodman Unit (another unit she had served time in) and the girls were so hopeful after hearing her.  I won’t share too much since I don’t know what the others will share. I will say I was blown away by the team God brought together.

Jordan in only 19 and one of the most gifted people I have ever worked with. She writes music,  sings beautifully and plays the guitar. I have heard she can play just about anything from others. Even more impressive than all of that is she is sold out for Jesus.  Her life is all about Him and she is going to make an incredible impact for Christ.

Valerie is our new administrative assistant, CEO and any other title that might include doing all the work around here J She wanted to go one time to see what we are doing and have a better idea of what the ministry is about. She told us when we went she would not be talking or anything. I knew Jehovah Sneaky wouldn’t let her get by with that.. hehee. Anyway, God gave her an amazing scripture for the girls and made us all cry when she shared it. I won’t tell you anymore about that either so she can!

Anyway, the weekend could not have gone any better.  We had no major interruptions in any of the services (that never happens) and we had amazing officers that were very supportive of what we were doing.  Chaplain Estes is one of the most amazing Chaplains EVER! She has been running like crazy and taking extra work on to allow us these opportunities. I am so very grateful for her and the girls adore her.

We all wore out pink cam and the girls loved it. They will most certainly recognize us when we walk in those doors! They were hot pink camo! Hehe…

We were allowed to go to the areas they call the dog pound as well as the Ad Seg area. That was one of the highlights for me. Jordan and I sang “ How He loves” for the girls and you could have heard a pin drop. I loved watching them start peeking out to see us.  It opened the door for us to approach them and pray with them.

I should probably shut up now before I tell stuff others might want to tell.  God is so faithful. He was reaching deep into the hearts of these women and we had the blessing of watching it right in front of us! Now, we are getting ready for our big easter event! Please pray for us.  We will be doing 8 classes and 4 services in 4 days!!! YEP.. that’s right! Pray for us! J
